Women in India: Our Journey: TBB '10 students Marianna Brady and Genevieve Moss-Hawkins created this video to explore the experiences of women in rural India, finding their assumptions about personal freedom may not apply to everyone. |
Over the past 60 years, the world's population has tripled. Farmers and scientists have used new technologies to increase crop yields, but these changes often bring pollution, impoverish small farmers, and threaten the safety of food supplies. You'll investigate how India is working to maintain high crop yields while making their farms more sustainable. You'll explore the role of food in culture and assist scientists working with local farmers to improve yields and sustainability.
You'll experience cities with millions of people, villages of just a few hundred, and a mix of five major religions. You'll observe Hindu and Muslim communities living side by side. You'll join a camel trek in the desert and see the rich culture of one of humanity's oldest civilizations.
A vast and diverse country, India's history is rich. You'll rise early to witness the majestic architecture of the Taj Mahal at sunrise. You'll roam the grounds to take in the broad views and fine details of one of the world's most beautiful monuments. You'll tour the old and new cities of Delhi to take in their sights, sounds, and tastes.
